For the past year I have had an addiction to oxycontin. Over the past week I have been doing other pills to not withdraw from my oxy addiction. K-pins, hydros, and perkasets. Nothing too much, just enough so that I am not laying on the floor in a ball sweating. crying, and puking. However today I have not been able to get ahold of anything. I do have a few pills and I am wondering what I can take, in a safe, amount, that will keep me sane. I really dont want to buy an oxy but Im very desperate.
Whenever I dont have anything my symptoms include restlessness, unable to get a straight hour of sleep (which probably drives me the most crazy) and achy legs.
I have the following:
Acetaminophen-codeine phosphate, I have 2 idk the mg.
Naproxen sodium, i have 2 500mg.
Naproxen, one 500mg.
Fluoxetine hydrochloride, 3 10mg.
Fluoxetine, 4 40mg.
Cyclobenzaprine, 2 5mg.
Alprazolam, 3 1/2 .25mg.
What can I safely take to help me get through the night?
I suffer Rheumatoid Arthritis which is progressing, it has in the last week progressed into my elbows and now causing bad back aches.
I suffer it in my hands, wrists, knees, ankles and feet including the ball. I have a low tolerance to pain and am currently on a cocktail of Burprenorphine Transdermal Patches 10mcg/ Per Hour, alongside, Co-Dydramol 10/500mg (Dihydrocodeine 10mg/ Paracetamol (Tylenol) 500mg) 8 times per day.
I still get very bad aching and burning feelings from my joints and surrounding muscle. I get alot of sharp pains and stiffness too. I walk daily (even though every step is agony), I try to swim when I can afford it (im unable to work and only have £50 per week to live on ESA). So swimming is more a luxury to me.
I am taking DMARD in the form of Sulfasalazine 500mg 2 twice daily. Prednisolone Steroids 10mg but these im weaning off to prevent Osteoperosis on my Consultants advice. I take alot of vitamin supplements too.
However my pains continue very badily. Im worried because my Dr said if I dont respond to this cocktail he will put me on Morphine and/or Oxycodone.
Im worried about Morphine due to this potency, addictive nature and its ease in overdose. Is there any other pain relief that is not as strong as Morphine but stronger than Dihydrocodeine that is avaliable for Prescription in the UK?
NHS does not regularly use Hydrocodone so this is no option, Pethidine or Demerol is only given to women in labor in the UK. Can someone tell me anyother pain relief weaker than Morphine other than Oxycodone? Im going to see a Dr at my surgery tomorrow but not my usual Dr.
I would like information to take to the GP surgery tomorrow to see if I can get additional help, I hate using pain relief that is doing little or nothing for me. Which my Dr understands fully. BTW I have used Tramadol (Ultram) and it is useless no better than Paracetamol on its own. I also, have allergies to all Aspirin and Aspirin like drugs including Nurofen, Ibuprofen, Anadin, Naproxen. I have so far only used Paracetamol (Tylenol) and first line Opiates upto Buprenorphine strength.
Cannabis is illegal in England even for medical use, and for non medical use it was recently upgaded fom lowest priority Class C drug alongside illegal valium posession to Class B drug alongside Amphetamines and illegal Codeine posession.
Vicodin is Hydrocodone Vicodin and Lortab are not used in the UK. But thank you very much for the comment, was helpful. Yes my consultant said if Cannabis was legal she wuld give me a script for it because it really does help people with Arthritis along with many other conitions.
Mallory thank you,I have Prednisolone I have a blue steroid treatment card meaning I cant rapidly stop steroids I hve to be weaned off I was on 20mg per day now im on 10mg per day soon 5mg then none basedon wht y Rheumatologist wants it why she gave me Disease Modifier namely Salafalazine (Horse drug as its called).
Still expereincing severe pain an I understand too well your prediciment, I can hardly walk now I have to hold one of my arms out for balance and sometimes use my Crutch for additional aide. My major problem is low tolerance to pain thanks for your contribution.

Is it safe to take 2mg Diazepam twice a day, and also 500mg Naproxen twice a day? I'm not talking about dependancy, etc, just interested if they will affect each other?
Thanks for replying but have already looked up all the risks, etc of taking both seperately, but just wanting to know about mixing Diazepam AND Naproxen and WHY it may not be recommended, if that is the case. . . . . . . .
My doctor has prescribed me 500mg of Naproxen Sodium for two months for Thyroiditis. It seems excess to me and possibly dangerous. He wanted to put me on steroids but I can't for medical reasons.
The thing is I don't exactly trust my doctor, but there's no one else I can see. Does 500mg of Naproxen Sodium twice a day for two months sound like an okay treatment?
ok so for a few days i had a feeling in my right side that felt like someone had beaten me up or kicked me a few good times in my ribs.....at first i thought it was just muscle soreness, but i didnt know from what....well long story short it started to hurt to breathe so i went to the doctor....they said i had slight pneumonia on my right side of my chest.....they gave me percocet for the pain, naproxen for inflamation....and zithromax (azithromycin) for an antibiotic.....i could afford all but the atibiotic it was like $75.00 without insurance.....i was looking online for pneumonia meds, and it listed amoxicillin as one, and i have a bunch of 500mg pills...can i take those and still get better??? how often? how much? should i cut them in half?? help please cuz i cant make rent this month if i have to give up this money for meds.....
wow, you guyz are so quick to jump to conclusions, the percocets were only $7.00, i didnt buy what i didnt need and neglect what i did, im in some frickin serious pain, i needed those pain killers, and i need the antibiotics, but 7 and 75 dollars is a big differece....at least im not in as much pain while i try to figure out what im gonna do....dont be such jerks, im sick for goodness sakes, geez!....
thank you to those who helpsed tho....im gonna go check on the other suggested options....=)

I recently had some Hydrocod-APAP 325mgs from my motor vehicle accident, but recently ran out. I found some Naproxen 500mg in my medicine cabinet and wanted to ask experienced people's opinions on how the pain relief feels different.
I understand that Hydrocodone is an opiate analegic and Naproxen is an anti-inflammatory, but I would still like to see how people compare the 2.

I was prescribed Naproxen 500mg for my lower back pain..but when I take it,it makes my stomach upset and gives me really bad headaches and makes me feel like crap, and Ive taken it with food and tried it without.
My doctor gave me this because I am allergic to Ultram.
What other Medicine could I take in place of Naproxen for my lower back.
Also my Doctor prescribed me Cyclobenzaprine 10mg..which is not helping the pain. should I ask for a stronger dose then 10mg?
my doc gave me two prescriptions... one of hydrocodone apap (pretty much it's vicodin 5mg with 500mg of tylenol) and naproxen ec 500mg (aka..aleve) and i can't remember if she said i could take them together or not... im pretty sure i can, but idk... can someone help me out?
Pharmacist said NOT to take other painkillers in addition to this, for obvious reasons. So now what? Prescription was for 500mg Naproxen twice daily.
There's no doctor available right now, hence looking for quick answer here.
